It's been quite a week and haven't been close to wifi until now so will try to do a quick catch up while I am here with friends in Spruce Grove, Alberta.
While we were in Langley, we went to Fort Langley. Before we went to the fort, we stopped at this 50s restaurant for something to eat.
On the way to the Fort we saw these beautiful roses...
And the mural as we entered the fort,
The cookhouse where all the food was prepared.
The barrel building exhibit.
The blacksmith shop
The island where the wives chose to live.
More beautiful flower picture back at cousin Ada's.
Then we were off to visit Uncle Frank in Penticton...
Bruce's almost 93 year old uncle Frank set a pretty fast pace walk to Okanagan Lake.
Bruce took a dip down to the lake for the Commonwealth Pool Summer Challenge back home.
Lily of the valley across from the lake.
The sand along the bank is in preparation of possible flooding.
At the end of the beach is the Sicamous.
Back on the road again, leaving Penticton now for Canyon Hot Springs ...
The high waters along the road into the mountains.
Our rest stop commemorated the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway.
Canyon Hot Springs is set in the mountains and this is the view from the Hot Springs pools.
This was our view...
I saw a black bear in the wild on our last night there. In the morning we were off to Lake Louise and Banff.
Beautiful Lake Louise whatever the season. There is still snow and ice on Lake Louise. One of our dogs, Daisy, loved to walk on the snow banks but she kept sinking in the snow so finally decided to walk on the path with us.
On to Banff...
A sort distance from our site were these elk. I counted five. This was quite the treat to see these elk in the wild.
We really like camping at Tunnel Mountain in Banff and hope to come back sometime and stay longer. On our way out of Banff, the Cascade mountain.
The three sisters
Leaving the mountains, all of a sudden things begin to look rather flat.
Next stop is Jarvis Bay Provincial Campsite near Sylvan Lake.
The campsite had a lot of white fluff everywhere.
Being near Sylvan Lake, our thought went to a dear friend who grew up at Sylvan Lake. We had a book with us which are short reflections of her life so we read a few chapters as we were there and we were reminded of her great sense of humour.
It was great to see our friends who live in Red Deer.
And now off to see friends in Spruce Grove
When we arrived in Spruce Grove there was already an RV in the driveway. Faye's parents are visiting from NS so this is how BC meets NS in Alberta.
Faye with her grandchildren
Fay and I met when we were teenagers so its great to re-connect with her and her family.
You can take the gardener away from the garden but he is quick to find another garden to work in.
Until next time ...
