Ontario second time around

Since we are heading back, we are seeing some people we already have seen (a bonus) but we are also visiting people we didn't get to see going to the Maritimes.  One of those stops was in Ottawa.  We've been to Ottawa before but this time we got to stay in the country in a place called Osgoode.  Our gracious hosts are people who we met last year when we were touring the UK.  Travel often brings new friends and sometimes those new friends end up on your doorstep.

This is where we were staying in Osgoode - field of wheat, beautiful home and friends, monarch butterflies and hummingbirds.  We were about 40 minutes from the heart of Ottawa but it was so peaceful.  We loved it there.  Besides our friends, one of the first things that greeted us was hummingbirds.  What could be better?

In Gatineau, we were fortunate to see the Mosaiculture.  All these sculptures are made with real plants.  Look at the size and creativity here.

Time to remember...lest we forget.

The puffins we hope to see some day when we get to Newfoundland (not this trip but soon).

The snowy owls were great.  There were lots more but these were a few of my favourites.

The bird tree was my all-time favourite.  If you ever get to see this display, it is a must.

While in Ottawa, we also go to visit friends that we met on a tour of Israel and Jordan, and friends from youth group days in Victoria.  There were others also that we missed because they were away.

From Ottawa, we went to Belleville and then Parry Sound and got to visit friends and family again.  One of the highlights was the Island Queen cruise with members of the Presbyterian Church.  We had an evening service of singing and message will cruising the Georgian Bay and seeing that it really is cottage country on many little islands.

The lovely Island Queen Cruise Boat.  It would definitely be worth taking this trip to see the islands in this area.

Beautiful sunset as we returned to the dock.

View of the dock and the historical trestle bridge as we returned to the dock.

Until next time ...

NB and on to Ontario

We are on our return trip now.  One last visit to my cousins at the farm.  We took a trip to the upper pastures for some great views and to see the horses.

We took another trip to St. Martin's to visit my uncle and aunt and see their summer home.

On the way to Sussex there is a single tree on a hill.  Here it is.  I've seen this tree over the years.  It's still there !!!

And some more bird pictures - my other pass time when I'm at my cousins.

And this beautiful sunset following a day of sightseeing.

Our last night in NB was in Woodstock.  This was the calm before the storm.  It was quite a thunder and lightening show.

And the calm after the storm ...

Then the next day, we are off to Ottawa, Ontario

Always happy to see those road signs as we say good bye to one province and hello to another.

We are now in Ontario.
Until next time ...

Wonderful PEI

PEI did not disappoint us.  What a wonderful place but we will have to come back again to see everything.  We are already talking about coming for a month next time and spending a week in the different areas of the island.  There just isn't enough time ...

Almost didn't make it on the ferry...we were the last RV to get on and they squeezed one small car after us.

Lots of farmland and fields are growing.

Cape Bear - my new activity is climbing to the top of every lighthouse I can find.

Views from the lighthouse

And never pass up on a community lobster dinner.  This one was at Murray River - lobster or ham dinner (eat in or take out) and strawberry shortcake for dessert.  It was a real treat.

Visiting my friend Rhoda at her church, Zion Presbyterian Church in Charlottetown was a highlight for us and lunch with Rhoda and Ken.

This is a neat sculpture not far from the church - memorial passing of the torch "lest we forget".

The deportation cross at Port Amherst and the walk down to the lighthouse.

So glad we made it to Argyle Shores Provincial Park.
What a great place to stop for dinner.

And what a great way to finish off our evening - good 'ole time Maritime music at a Ceilidh with Tip-er-back.  There motto is: Until next time grab a jar of life, fill it with music and tip er back ...

Some sculptures at Montague

Beautiful river scene

From the bridge - two great places to stop on either side of the bridge. One side has an artisan shop and other stores.  On the other side is the info building and park area.

Panmure Island Lighthouse and yes, I climbed to the top.

The final set of stairs to the top.

The light and view from the top.

Summerside - this lighthouse was actually an artisan shop but I climbed it anyway.

View of a lot of fun on a hot summer day - lots of squats from here as we ate our lunch.

Beautiful view of French River on our way home.

And on our last night here, we had to go to another Ceilidh.  This one was just down the road from where we were staying.  Dunes n'Tunes - A Seaside Ceilidh at Brackley Beach Community Centre every Tuesday evening if you happen to be in the area.

Off to NB now to visit family for a few days before heading home ...

Until next time ... enjoy the day you're given and make wonderful memories with those around you.
